Before you report

Etsy suggests contacting the seller first to try to sort it out. If that does not work, or you would rather not, you report through the Etsy Reporting Portal.

You must own the work or be authorised to report for the owner. The portal is in US English, but you can use it from anywhere.

Register and add your work

  1. Go to the Etsy Reporting Portal. If you sell on Etsy and are reporting your own work, sign in with your shop's account.
  2. Choose who owns the rights and add your details.
  3. Open the Intellectual Properties tab and add a property. Choose its type (copyright for a copied design or photo) and add the owner.
  4. If you can, add a link to a page that shows your work in use, such as your own listing. Then add its name and details.

Report the listings

  1. Open the Reports tab and create a report. Give it a name for your own reference.
  2. Choose the owner and the property this report covers.
  3. Select Create & add listings, search Etsy for the copies and add them. You can also upload listing IDs or links in bulk.
  4. Select Review & submit, check it and submit.

Etsy emails a confirmation, and later the outcome. You can follow the status in the Reports tab.

Why Etsy rejects notices

Etsy lists the common reasons a notice cannot be processed:

  • Shop names instead of listing links. Etsy needs each listing's URL, which looks like etsy.com/listing/ followed by a number.
  • Missing contact details: full name, physical address, phone number or email.
  • Examples of the copier's listing where Etsy asks for your own work. Link to your original, not theirs.
  • The wrong type of right, for example a trademark claim without an active registered trademark.

If you cannot use the portal, Etsy accepts notices by email at legal@etsy.com, with the details listed on its DMCA requirements page.
