What a report can tell you, and what it cannot.

A report gives you possible matches and dated evidence of what we saw. It is not legal advice, and we are not a law firm.

The short version

Five limits we want you to know.

We would rather tell you now than surprise you later.

  • 01

    Possible matches

A match looks like your design. It is not a finding that someone copied you.

  • 02

    Dated evidence

A capture shows a listing as it was when we saw it.

  • 03

    Not legal advice

DupeHound is not a law firm. For legal advice, talk to a lawyer.

  • 04

    Not every copy

No service finds every copy. Temu is not searched yet.

  • 05

    Marketplaces decide

Only a marketplace can take a listing down.

The full text

Every section, in plain words.

Draft. Draft text for review. Replace it with the signed-off policy before launch.

[ ]Text in square brackets is a placeholder for a fact we do not have yet.

Possible matches, not findings

A possible match is a listing that looks like one of your photos. A person reviews each one before it reaches you, and marks it as a possible match or as needing your look.

That review is an opinion on how similar two images look. It is not a decision that anyone copied you, and it does not say who made the design first. You know your work best, and what a match means is your call.

Dated evidence of what we saw

Each capture records a listing as it was at the date and time we saved it. Sellers can change, hide or remove a listing after that. Your report shows what we saw, not what is there now.

The listing dates from your own shop are shown as you gave them to us, or as your shop page showed them.

No service finds every copy

We search carefully, but no search finds every copy of a design. A copy may use a changed photo, be listed under a different name, or sit somewhere we do not search.

A report with no possible matches means we did not find any where we looked. It does not mean no copies exist.

Marketplaces decide takedowns

Only a marketplace can remove a listing from its site. We do not file reports or contact sellers for you.

The takedown worksheet helps you fill in one marketplace report form. Whether you file, and what the marketplace decides, is between you and the marketplace.

The free scan

The free scan checks up to 5 photos and shows only a count of possible matches. It is automated and not reviewed by a person, so its count may include listings that a review would rule out, and it may miss ones a full search would find. A count of zero is not a promise that no copies exist.

Marketplace names and logos

AliExpress, Shein, Amazon, Etsy and Temu are trademarks of their owners. We name them only to say where we search. We are not part of, or endorsed by, any of them.
